What is the Certificate Supplement?

The Certificate Supplement provides detailed information on the qualifications acquired by people who hold certificates or diplomas of education and professional training. It is issued by certifying authorities and provides details on:

The elements of skills acquired;

  • the sectors of activity and/or the types of jobs suitable for the holder of the certificate or diploma;
  • the certifying authority and the national/regional authority responsible for the referent;
  • the level of the certificate or diploma;
  • the required entry level and the prospects of obtaining the next level of education or training;
  • the internet address of the National Reference Point to obtain further information on the national training systems.

Who is it for?
Holders of diplomas and professional training certificates who are looking for a job or training and will also be able to provide a detailed description of their training.

Where can you obtain it?
The Certificate Supplement is provided by the certifying body which issued the original certificate or diploma. It is not a substitute for the original diploma nor is it an automatic system which guarantees recognition. The National Reference Point in Luxembourg will inform you where you can obtain the Certificate Supplement in your mother tongue or in another language.
